Retail is changing. There is no doubt about that. And while more and more people shop online for their wardrobes, I still fully believe in the power of shopping in stores, specially since you can still use coupons. There is something irreplaceable in being able to touch clothes with your own hands: the feel of the fabrics, the look of the prints, the real shapes of the garments, the real colors as seen through your eyes as opposed to on a screen, the overall experience (especially when it’s a great one!). That’s why you should still shop in the stores.
For me as a stylist, especially, there really is nothing better than being in a store. I love seeing how shops express their style through merchandising, I love seeing what color stories they are feeling, and what items they feature. It’s a supportive indicator of what is happening in the pulse of fashion right now. And of course I love trying on clothes and walking out with only items my clients (and I!) love. You can’t beat that.
As you all know, for the past few months I have been working with Macy’s to support its in-store experience. Every month they hold fashion events that are fun for everyone and truly make the shopping experience interactive and memorable. Bottom line: Macy’s want you to have the best time when you walk through the doors. And throw me into the mix and you know you’ll have a good time! I like to make every experience feel like a creative adventure.
And that’s exactly what Macy’s did! They pulled out all the stops this month and brought in Lousie Roe as a host, as well YouTube influencers Tiffany Ma, Jennifer IM, and Sierra Furtado. There were lines all over the store with fans gushing over their favorite YouTube gals.
Plus I got to meet Louise!
But it isn’t just about the celebs. It’s about the fashion! Each month there are runway shows to give you the top looks of the season to help you shop and dress your best you every day! This is always my favorite part. I just love a well-styled outfit.
And while we shop, mingle, and get to interact with all the fun stations, a hair bars, and sassy photo booths, DJ Miss Ninja spins the best beats. (Crystal has DJ’d almost every single event I’ve attended! I love her!)
So these events are not to be missed! Will you be able to join me for the next one? We can shop and style together! Stay tuned and I will announce more events in the Los Angeles area. I hope to see you there.
