If you’re like me, it’s more often than not, you look in the mirror and see something about your body that you don’t love. I mean – We can’t help it! Whether you are a size 2 or 20, our expectations of our selves and our bodies can get the best of us. But for 2018 – I say NO MORE! This is the year for Body Positivity. It’s about time you love your body, beautiful flaws and all. Nobody is perfect and no BODY is perfect. It’s true.
If you struggle to find the love for yourself and love for the body you are in. Here are some of my tips to help you get your groove back.
Get Moving. Exercise, dance, walk, jump, play, heck –wear high heels and strut around Target, just because. Just get moving. Not to loose weight, or change your body. But instead to get in your body, to create energy, release positive endorphins. Stretching is great for this too. Body awareness, leads to body acceptance can create more body love energy as you embrace your frame, through your movement.
Get Naked. It’s about time you face yourself and accept your body the way it is. So yes. Get naked and stand in front of the mirror. What ever area (or areas…) that you don’t love. Take a good look and say: THIS is my body. I am perfect just the way I am. The more you say it – (Bonus points for saying it with a smile, even if it is forced…), you can build new neuro-pathways in your brain! It will make loving your body and yourself more natural in your thought process.
Honor Your Temple. Your body is a temple. And it’s so important to honor it, love it, and take care of it. Eat foods that make your body feel good. Drink more water. Give yourself the sleep you deserve. Take a hot bath with a relaxing bath bomb. Dry brush your skin in the morning. Spend time on your hair and your make up each day. It’s the little things you can do that build up to a bigger feeling of self love and compassion. Love yourself by love your temple.
Style Yourself Beautiful. Instead of hiding what you don’t love. Why not acknowledge what you do love. Go create an outfit that accentuates the areas you love, not the areas you hate. This way you are styling yourself in a more positive manner, which can help you feel confident in your outfit and in yourself. Getting dressed is a daily occurrence. It’s how you start your day! Have a better experience getting dressed? You are already starting your day on the right foot.
How will you honor your body this year? What steps will you take to make sure that 2018 is the year where you officially put insecurity behind you and embrace the beautiful you, that you already are? Make a list and get going. We’ve got a big year of change ahead and the small steps you take today that will create a larger impact in your life over time.
