Who else loves the movie You’ve Got Mail as much as I do? It’s the ultimate romantic comedy—Tom Hanks, Meg Ryan, New York City, a fabulous soundtrack—sigh. I’m getting all misty just thinking about it. And one of my favorite moments in the movie happens to me when Joe Fox (Hanks) is emailing Kathleen Kelly (Ryan) about how beautiful New York is in the fall:

“Don’t you love New York in the fall? It makes me want to buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address.”

totally get that feeling! I’ve been out of school for years, and every time back-to-school rolls around I still get the urge to head to the store with my mom to buy pens, notebooks, pencils, looseleaf paper. And we’d always go to Macy’s for new clothes, too. Looking through old yearbook photos and seeing what the style was each year is so much fun (and, let’s be honest, a little cringeworthy sometimes!). Back-to-school shopping is seriously the best.

That’s why I’m so excited about the Macy’s events that are coming up later this month. You can go back-to-school shopping this weekend and stock up on all the clothes and accessories you need, and then you can come back later this month for some great causes, including a Glitter Run event with the Los Angeles LGBT Center, a chance to meet L.A Galaxy player Romain Alessandrini and a 50th anniversary Macy’s Family Fun Day. P.S. I’ll be at the Glitter Run event so be sure to say hi—and get there early; the first 100 people get a $20 gift card!
