The Makeup Date is everything you need to know about beauty, skin, complexion,  color and the top products and trends that are a must have for every makeup case and morning routine.  With nine presentations from all different brands, an energetic host (that’s me!), gifts, giveaways, and private makeup consultations, this event is sure to answer all your beauty questions and leave you date ready and ever fabulous as we officially welcome the summer.

Here are the details:

Saturday June 22nd at 1pm at Bloomingdales Century City.  Doors open at 12pm with sips, bites and mingling with other fabulous women.  You can find us in the cosmetics section on floor 1.  But with our big stage set up, we will be hard to miss.

Laurie’s Modern Must-Have: The Statement Satchel

It’s no doubt that having a great handbag can make an outfit. It’s said that your handbag should always be the investment piece, and I completely agree with that. However, all rules were meant to be broken. And I also agree with that! Therefore, you don’t always need to spend an investment amount on your handbag. But no matter what you spend, big or small, your handbag should always make a statement for your look!

Five Reasons the Statement Satchel is a MUST-HAVE:

1. A statement satchel adds a pop of color, and is a great way to create visual interest to your style.

2. A great statement handbag can elevate ANY casual day look to MORE FAB. 

3. Adding a stylish statement satchel can enhance the value of your overall office look.  

4. A statement satchel shows that you’re not the average person because you chose something in a bold color. That means you have personality and creativity.

5. Lastly, it’s just fun! Having fun, bright colors in your wardrobe can always make your day.

If you are petite, a satchel that’s too big for you will take down your look a notch and look heavy on you. Keep that in mind, and don’t go too big!

Featured: Laurie Interviewed by Women Empowered

I’m so honored to be interviewed by such a wonderful organization as Women Empowered! I’ve always believed it’s not about the dress, but the woman who wears it.  Here’s a little more about them:  “Women Empowered is an organization that connects, educates and supports women of all ages and backgrounds, and inspires them to give back to their communities through mentorship, networking, and volunteerism.”

WE:   Tell us more about your company and what services you provide your clients. 

Laurie:  At LaurieBstyle LLC, It’s my goal to make my clients feel like everything is possible again.  And it simple comes from
empowering them with the knowledge of how to strategically style themselves to show their best selves every day.  To be the executive in charge, to be the hip mom on the go, to be the rising entrepreneuress, to be the traveling consultant and to live that life inspired, full of creativity, bright with color and endless with possibilities.  It’s empowerment through education.  But what I love is that each client is different and unique so while some of the styling tips are the same, they work differently for everyone.  I have so many styling rules, yet I also break every single one of them!

 My services range from shopping in your own closet (because believe it or not there is so much to work with in there!), to personal stopping to full head-to-toe closet clean out, wardrobe styling, private shopping experience makeovers.  For clients out of state, I offer skype style sessions, personal style guides and inspiration books as well as can even online personal shop as well.  So really any way that I can empower my clients no matter where they are, location wise, career wise or budget wise,  I have a program for you!

WE:   Do you have a mentor?  If so, who and how has the person impacted your life?

Laurie: My mentor is my incredible Mother, Vida.  The true force behind my turning wheels.  She pushes me, inspires me, teaches me, and even grows with me. But the bottom line is that she has never given up on me.  She has and still continues to support me in every way to move toward my dreams.   And any given day that I call her saying I feel like giving up, she never let’s me forget how much I have accomplished and how far I have come.  I couldn’t be luckier.

WE:   What inspires you to do what you do?

Laurie: People inspire me.  When I people watch, I am not just looking at clothes,  I am looking at people.  I am looking at their expressions.  Are they feeling good today?  What level of confidence are they exuding?  I feel for people and I feel for my clients with their style struggles because truth is, we all experience that.  So knowing that I can help the men and women I work with by making their mornings brighter, fun and open for creative style possibilities is what drives me.    Nothing makes me feel like I can change the world, when a client tells me that I have changed her life.

Laurie’s Modern Must-Have: The Dressy Day Blouse

Sometimes elevating your wardrobe is as simple as a change of fabric choice. On a typical day, you’ll gravitate toward t-shirts or other knit fabric tops.  However, in switching up that fabric choice, you can change the whole outlook of your outfit! Choosing fabrics like georgette, chiffon, or crepe are instant outfit-elevators!  Whether you choose to wear polyester or silk, when you pair them with your everyday casual, the creative contrast will give your wardrobe a whole new life.

Five Fit Tips for Your Dressy Day Blouse:

1. No matter what body shape you are, if you feel the blouse too box-y, always add a belt. “When in doubt, belt it out!” That’s what I always say.

2. Cuffing the sleeves on a long-sleeved top not only cools you off on a hot day, but also can slim your overall look by showing more wrist.

3. Avoid big patterns, stripes, and big pocket details if you are big busted.

4. If you have an apple shape, your day blouse should be fluid around your natural curves. Always add a slim cardigan or structured jacket over the top to define your waist! Don’t know what shape you are? 12 Steps of Style can help!

5. The hemline should never rest on the widest point of your hips. Avoid that by adding a belt that will raise the hemline slightly, tucking into a higher-waisted bottom, or adding a lightweight jacket that covers your hips.
