What is LaurieBstyle?
LaurieBstyle LLC is dedicated to helping my clients find their own strategic image brand. I founded my company in 2009 in order to change the world’s perspective of themselves and style all around. My methods are an effective service for individuals and companies alike. Each client is viewed as a product and a brand. And by developing a client’s own individual “packaging,” we create image branding that is not only unique, but also strategic, appropriate, marketable, and most importantly saleable. At LaurieBstyle LLC services include private consultations, closet assessments and audits, personal shopping, strategic image and style re-branding, photoshoot styling, special event styling, corporate style advising, presentations and public speaking.
How long have you been doing what you do, and how did you get involved in Image Consulting?
Fashion has been my world for 10 years. I spent 7 incredible years in New York City working as a fashion designer for various contemporary womenswear labels but yearned for something more. In 2008 I received a certificate degree in Image Consulting from Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City. Image Consulting combines two of my favorite things into one career: fashion styling and helping people.
Who are your clients?
My clients are professional men and women. The workplace is often the hardest location for someone to be able to express their own individuality. I help my clients find a happy medium between their professional life and their personal life. My clients know that first impressions are everything in life and in business. They also know their confidence level is directly related to their wardrobe and how they feel every day. They really care about how they look, but like so many of us, get into a style and wardrobe rut. We lose ourselves, and by going through the styling process with me you can rediscover the energetic, fun and amazing person hiding inside just waiting to come back out.
How are you different than other Image Consultants and Stylists?
There is a concept I call “Strategic Image Branding” that is unique to my process and is an effective approach to interpreting individual style. It is about understanding the client as not just a person but as a brand. We sell ourselves every day — in business meetings, with family, even on the street. I believe we can use this to our advantage. As an expert in the science as well as the perception of dress, I know how to translate your life, your love, your fears and your body into wearable confident style. It is all about understanding the core of our individualism and bringing that to life via wardrobe, style and my strategic image branding. I use this technique across the board from private styling, to personal shopping to photoshoots and even to corporate advising.
With what type of personality do you work best with and what is expected of me?
One of the hardest parts about finding your own style is that it sometimes is exactly the opposite of what you were taught. My process teaches you to re-train your eye so that you can see a whole new world with regards to style and perception. With that, my clients must be open and willing to take a chance. We break down those barriers of what you thought was okay so that we can change your world for the better. But you have to be willing to get out of your comfort zone. I always say, “you have to get uncomfortable to get comfortable again” and that is especially true when developing your own unique style. But you have to want to change. Remember the first step to fixing a problem is admitting you have one. Which if you’ve read this far down in the interview, I’d say you are ready to get started. It’s time to make changes and it’s up to you to take that first exciting but very scary step.
For what type of person is this relationship not going to work?
Someone who isn’t ready for change. Someone who cannot admit that their day-to-day look is affecting the perception of them and in turn spiraling their perception of themselves. If you are not ready to change then most likely you will not go outside of your boundaries to get the most out of the process.
What exactly is your styling process like?
It’s absolutely fun! It’s rejuvenating and it’s all out inspirational! I’ve worked with all types of people and I think everyone’s biggest fear is that they are being judged by their wardrobe. And yes, people judge all the time. On the streets, in the offices — but not me. I don’t judge. I’m here to help. On a personal level, I’m very relaxed, patient, smiling and always on the hunt for new and exciting ideas for you. I’ve always said my positivity is infectious and I make sure my energy and inspiring vision rubs off on you!
How will we work together and what does the program entail?
We work closely together but the whole process can span from one week to one month. I offer 3 major packages that range from “shopping your closet,” to full style strategy makeovers and even to personal shopping and wardrobe pampering in your own home. It all depends on what level you want to take it. But each process is fun, enlightening and full of tools that you can walk away with. What is the fee to hire you for one of your packages?
For each package there is a separate and strategic price as each package has very different required hours and obligations that I will perform for you. Please contact me directly to discuss your personal needs — style-wise and budget-wise. I can then help you choose a package that is appropriate for you or even help you tailor one that is more strategic for you and your style needs.
If I hire you to update my wardrobe, is the shopping budget included?
This is a great question. No, the shopping budget is separate from my service fees. I am one savvy shopper and can work easily with any budget. So you tell me what you want to spend, and I will design a shopping trip that is perfect for you, your shopping goals and your budget.
